I prefer to think of November as the perfect balance between autumn foliage and the start of winter. With crisp air, cities begin to prepare for the festive season. However, we prefer the 10 Best Cities to Visit in November in the USA. Lights appear on the streets, and the air fills with obvious excitement. It’s the month of Thanksgiving when families get together to enjoy wonderful meals and express appreciation.
November is one of my favorite months to travel in the United States, that’s why we suggest 10 Best Cities to Visit in November in the USA with less crowds and lower pricing. You’ll still have the opportunity to do some ‘leaf peeping’, see the best cities without the traffic, and enjoy the cabin ambiance before the eerie chill of full-fledged winter.
1. Salt Lake City, Utah
If you ask me, Autumn is never long enough. If you want to get the most out of your leaf-peeping experience, Salt Lake City is the place to go. Surrounded by alpine slopes and ski resorts, it serves as the starting point for outdoor autumn excursions.
Salt Lake City also has plenty of indoor activities: concert venues for crowds of 20 to 20,000; restaurants from all over the world and a thriving foodie scene at low-cost prices; blockbuster theatres and art house indies; ballet, opera, orchestra, and theatre worthy of much less convenient metropolises; museums; malls; and professional basketball, soccer, baseball, and hockey. Don’t forget to see Temple Square, which features a gothic-and-granite Goliath statue.
2. Charlotte, North Carolina
Flannel is the national outfit in Charlotte, North Carolina, and I support it. Cool temps make it an ideal month to visit Freedom Park or hike around Crowders Mountain State Park. The state is notoriously peaceful, which allows for a more comfortable autumn season.
However, there are some fascinating events, such as a drive-in movie theatre, a sheepdog festival, and, of course, a pumpkin festival. In November, holiday attractions such as the Charlotte Christmas Village and the Speedway Christmas Lights open their doors.
3. Sedona, Arizona
There is something intriguing about Arizona’s abstract and strange scenery. At any time of year, Sedona feels like another planet. By November, the weather has cooled and the air has cleared. It’s one of the nicest times to go hiking without feeling like you’re going to combust. Check out the Cathedral Rock and Bell Rock paths for some breathtaking vistas.

If spiritual vortexes are your thing, you’ll already know that Sedona is famous for its spiritual energy convergences. Whether you believe in the spiritual energy of a vortex or not, Sedona is filled with positive vibes and joyful people. It’s the ideal location to unwind and reflect on the year that has passed.
4. Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Fort Lauderdale, located just a short distance from the balmy Caribbean Sea, is your entryway to a tropical retreat without the summer crowds (or long-haul flights). The temperature is a moderate 70 degrees, allowing you to enjoy the vast expanse of beaches without feeling overheated.
Underwater visibility is also at its peak. So, it is an excellent time for divers and snorkelers. The city also boasts a famed beach bar and nightlife culture. If you’re looking for a classic Floridian ambiance, it’s easy to locate. The Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival also takes place in November. This brings a good number of cultural vultures to the city.
5. Los Angeles, California
If you want to enjoy a few more days of sunshine before heading into winter, Los Angeles, the best of the 10 Best Cities to Visit in November in the USA is the ideal autumn getaway. The sun shines about 300 days a year here, even when the weather cools down for winter.
November is quiet (by Los Angeles standards). Without the photo-obsessed tourists, you may get a more local LA feel. It’s chilly enough to hike to the Hollywood sign and explore Griffith Park. But what I adore the most are the festive lights and decorations that adorn LA’s malls, beaches, and hotels.
6. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
If you’re looking for a spot to spend Thanksgiving, Philadelphia might be the most festive option. The Thanksgiving spirit is impenetrable, with parades and activities commemorating the city’s colonial origins held almost daily.
November also brings cooler weather, which pairs well with seasonal delights such as toasty pretzels and Philly cheesesteaks. If you enjoy attending functions, the Franklin Square Holiday Festival begins in mid-November. With plenty of food, shops, a light display spectacle, and kid-friendly activities, the festival will get you ready for winter.
7. Nashville, Tennessee
Nashville, one of the famous cities of 10 Best Cities to Visit in November in the USA known as the cradle of country music, is one of the most iconic American metropolises to visit in the afterlife. Nashville’s high season homestretches in August, so costs fall as the number of trippers declines.
With lower crowds to contend with, November is an excellent month to tromp down Music Row. For those who enjoy both music and food, this is the season to indulge in ranch-to-table chow. requests explode with fresh fruit, pumpkin patches spring to life, and sludge mazes give endless entertainment for children. The famed Christmas Village opens its doors as early as mid-November!
8. Beaufort, South Carolina
Beaufort, a tiny city in South Carolina across the river from Hilton Head, is known for its antebellum houses and antique shops. During the summer, the city is quite popular with families, but in the autumn, it attracts a more relaxed ‘bed and breakfast’ clientele.
As the leaves begin to fall from the oak trees, the city is coated in the crunch that signals the start of the holiday season. Beaufort markets November as the month for outdoor adventures, citing ideal weather for camping, hiking, bicycling, and kayaking. The tidal wetlands, in particular, come alive in late autumn. You might even see an American Oyster Catcher lurking in the golden seagrass.
9. Austin, Texas
Austin is all about live music and excellent vibes year-round. As the world’s live music capital, you can pretty much count on having a good time whenever you visit. However, with fewer crowds and milder weather, November is one of the greatest months to visit this vibrant city.
It’s the ideal time to explore the local BBQ food culture and the city’s numerous food trucks. The temperature has finally cooled enough for a walk through Zilker Park. Every day in November, there’s something going on: barbecue festivals, wine festivals, art bazaars, book festivals, and, of course, Thanksgiving activities.
10. San Diego, California
Every season is an excellent time to explore California. Sun and waves in November? Who would have thought? While the rest of the country layers up and stockpiles firewood, San Diego’s weather is consistently lovely. November offers a small cold, enough to warrant a light jacket but still comfortable in a t-shirt most days.
With moderate weather, autumn is ideal for visiting Balboa Park, beaches or even watching the sunset in La Jolla. San Diego, which is so near to the Mexican border, is another place to experience Dia de los Muertos celebrations in California flair. It is also the beginning of the whale-watching season.
