Chankanaab, which is located in Cozumel’s National Marine Park, is one of the most popular tourist destinations on this island. This park provides a variety of activities such as snorkeling and scuba diving, dolphin discovery, exhibits, zip-lining, and clear bottom kayak adventures. Cozumel, the largest island in the Mexican Caribbean, also has a number of Mayan archaeological sites.

3. Isla Holbox

Fortunately, Isla Holbox is still flying under the radar for the time being. There are no large resorts yet, so accommodations are mostly boutique hotels and campsites.
So, what can you see on this island? Of course, there are beautiful, empty beaches. However, Isla Holbox is also a fantastic destination for eco-tourists. Thousands of flamingos, pelicans, and other birds flock to its lagoon. From June to September, its waters attract the world’s largest concentration of whale sharks, as well as snorkelers who would like to swim with these incredible creatures.
4. Isla Contoy
This tiny little island is a national park and a naturalist’s paradise. It is an important migratory and nesting site for over 150 bird species, for example. It is also an important nesting location for sea turtles. Isla Contoy also has lovely white-sand beaches and crystal-clear water.
The number of tourists permitted to visit the island is limited to 200. If you want to see Isla Contoy, you can either book a tour with one of the few authorized tour operators or bring your own boat. However, if you want to do the latter, you must first obtain permission from the Park offices, which can be found on Isla Mujeres or in Cancun.
5. Isla Perez
The Alacranes Reef National Park includes five atolls, including Isla Perez. Because the beautiful, clear waters surrounding these atolls have a reputation for being dangerous to ships, a lighthouse on Isla Perez was built to help guide vessels in the area to safety.
The only people on this island are a lighthouse keeper and a few marines, and Isla Perez is the only atoll of the five that has any inhabitants. This is a peaceful island that is popular with snorkelers and divers who really can swim through and around the area’s sunken boats and reefs.
Isla Perez is also popular among anglers looking for hard-to-catch bonefish. You must obtain a permit to visit this island, and there are no facilities on or near the island. As a result, visitors must bring their own supplies, including water.
